Kiinde Twist- Breastfeeding Starter Kit Review

As I mentioned in an older post, I had problems with my milk supply for the first month and my lactation consultant had advised me to pump in between feedings to increase my milk supply.  She was the one that told me I can store the milk either in the freezer or just in the refrigerator.  I remembered that one of my cousins had given me this breastfeeding starter kit as gift for my baby shower. I tried it out and I loved it!

What it brings:

  • 20 Pre-sterilized pouches with twist-locking cap
  • 14 Direct- pump adapters (Medela, Philps Avent, Lansinoh, Playtex, Ameda, Tommee Tippee, Evenflo, The First Years, Spectra, Hygeia)
  • 2 Squeeze natural feeding bottles
  • 1 Slow-flow Active Latch nipple with case
  • 1 Medium-flow Active Latch nipple with case
  • 1Fast-flow Active Latch nipple with case
  • 1 Keeper breast milk holder and organizer
  • 2 Nipple brushes
I love that the pouches have a twist-locking cap because it is so easy to close and open without spilling or leaking of the milk! The pouches just twist on with the appropriate adapter directly to your pump and to any nipple bottle that is compatible. The pouches also have a section where you can write the date and name of the baby(if you leave baby at a daycare) so you can keep track of how old the milk is. Also, the pouches are disposable so no dirty bottles to wash!

I have the Medela pump and it is just so easy to add the adapter and twist the pouch on and pump right into the pouches. Once I'm done pumping, I close it and store it in the Kiinde keeper by date order.  Kiinde provides you with adapters to directly pump into the pouches with any of the compatible pumps.

The nipples that it comes with are suppose to "encourage deep, natural latching and eliminate gas," but it seems to be more difficult for the baby to get milk out of it. My daughter did not like the nipples it came with, but luckily Kiinde made it easy to just use nipples from other brands with the adapters they provide. The kit also brings the nipple brushes which can be used on any nipple.

Overall, I definitely recommend this starter kit for any mommy to be.  If you need a good breastfeeding storage system, then you should definitely try this out.  The starter kit is only $39.99 and it literally has everything you need for pumping, storing, and feeding your breastmilk to your baby.  The pouches are also inexpensive and are sold separately in packs of either 20, 40, or 80. You can get these Kiinde poducts directly on their site, Babies R Us, or Amazon.  If you follow Kiinde on facebook you can also enter giveaways and be up to date with the sales.
